Every now and then an image just works better in colour. This is one of those times. I can’t really say why, I just listen to that little voice inside my head that says “yes”…
Where are the parents?
Who knows where they are going…
COVID has ensured very few people are walking around in the downtown core. Many walk alone…
Terry Scanlon and his son standing behind him (his son’s head over Terry’s right shoulder). Terry has been selling hot dogs and other goods for years in Ottawa’s downtown core.
Occasionally, a store front grabs my attention, as was the case for this one located on Bank Street in Ottawa.
Another store front that grabbed my attention. This one was one St. Laurent on Montreal. I was there visiting my son for a couple of days.
Ruby and her owner are out every day looking for donations and/or chores to do.
With some restrictions lifted, with conditions of course, eating in is back on the menu.
I heard the noise from the fallen beer bottle and turned to see this interaction.
You can find more images in my street portrait section. This is Robert about an hour and a half after I did his portrait. Someone stole his small tent yesterday, which amounts to someone stealing his home.
Not much action early Sunday mornings. Not much action at all these days given that most people are working from home.
He has the usual cardboard sign. His says he will do chores. I wonder if anyone ever takes him up on that.
I saw him from about a half a block away. I took this image from about 20 feet away. I walked by him. He didn’t move once, at all. I wonder what he was thinking about…
He is at this same spot every day. Sometimes alone, sometimes not.
When you dress like you don’t care what people think…
I didn’t notice the ghost in the door when I first took the picture.
It was a beautiful fall day. The perfect day for a siesta in the parc.
The cat was sitting in a grocery cart, the owner was inside the store. The cat seemed to be enjoying the cool breeze.
Time for a new backpack soon…
They both appeared to be a bit wasted. Andre (on the left) asked if I would take their picture…
The dog seems to be asking where they were going next as the owner started packing up his gear.
It’s only the 2nd time I’ve seen this man. I’m not sure if he is new to the city or just new to asking for spare change. What I do know is that he doesn’t look happy.
Many small businesses have gone belly-up due to COVID-19. This means shops become available, which means new tenants, which means renovations, which means work for the construction industry and others…
I see this young man and his dog just about every day. He sits near the grocery store at the corner of Bank and Somerset. His sign says he will do chores for money. This day the dog was tied to the street sign while the man went into the grocery store and this is how the dog greeted him when he came out. A touching moment…
I missed a better image a few seconds earlier. He had just sat down with his hot dog and was basically attacked by the pigeons. He feeds them on a regular basis so I guess they thought he would share this as well.
No matter where you live, no matter how great the city, scenes like this one will always exist.
A sad scene…
I know that the dogs were with this man sitting on the sidewalk. I don’t know if he owns them or earns a few bucks taking care of them. If he owns them, I have to wonder if he should. What is the real strory behind this image?
I wonder what his life is all about. Where he has been? What has he done? Is he happy?
